Your cat or kitten may have missed the litter box and pooped on the carpet. Now someone, (probably you) has to clean up the poop. You want to avoid stains and odor and you don’t have time to go out and buy specialty cleaning products. Below are instructions for cleaning up the cat poop using stuff you probably have around the house.

How to Clean Cat Poop from your Carpet

  1. Your first task is to remove the bulk of the poop. It may be hard and dried on to the carpet or worse still it could be runny diarrhea.Put on your gloves, get yourself a paint scraper (or something similar) and a dustpan.
  2. Remove the bulk of the cat poop using the paint scraper and place it in the dustpan. Wipe off excess poop with a damp paper towel but try not to spread if further.
  3. Spray the stain with a pre-wash laundry stain remover. You must use one that has ‘Oxi-Action’ or similar reference. ‘Oxi’ is the key word.

Using liquid dishwashing liquid, make up a bucket of cold soapy water
Then rub the stain using the soapy water and a cloth. Rinse the cloth out regularly.

A scrubbing brush may be necessary.

Repeat spraying with pre-wash laundry stain remover and scrubbing with soapy water until there is no stain visible.

4. To dry the area:

Use paper towels, to absorb as much of the moisture as possible.

Put the paper towel over the area and tread on the towel until it is saturated. Then repeat with fresh towels until there is little or no moisture.
